The renovation of this late ’90s home encompassed most of the home, and the kitchen was a big focus of that. While the layout remained essentially the same, the entire kitchen was gutted and updated. The corner of the home where the kitchen is located is quite dark due to a hill and large tree, so the change to white cabinetry significantly helped to brighten up the space.
Cabinetry was continued all the way to the ceiling, and used to disguise the HVAC soffit. The desk area was remove and floor to ceiling cabinetry continued to provide much need storage. The peninsula was brought out more to remove an unnecessary overhang, and cabinetry run from counter to ceiling in this area.
In addition to new cabinetry and lighting, a counter to ceiling backsplash helped to bring in some needed texture with the monochromatic palette.
A pot filler over the range was added in the renovation, and an integrated vent hood in the cabinetry helped to elevate this small kitchen. A second oven was also added in during the renovation.
